Changes to Medicaid Eligibility
for Noncitizen Adults

Changes are coming soon to Cardinal Care, formerly called Virginia Medicaid. This fall, Virginia Medicaid will host a series of virtual Town Halls dedicated to informing the public about Medicaid changes resulting from new federal law.

Registration is required, and live attendance is limited to 1,000 participants. The Town Hall will be recorded and posted online for anyone who is unable to attend the live event or would like to view it at a later time.

In the public Town Halls, people can learn how changes affect them, and who qualifies for an exemption to the new work requirements and key dates. Guidance will be available to help current members remain covered. 

Who is affected by the changes? All existing members and new applicants must submit updated information. Cardinal Care formerly called Virginia Medicaid, encompasses a wider range of services than ever. Old eligibility rules will end between September 30 and December 30. Read more here.

Shredding personal documents is a giant step in avoiding identity theft.

A free shredding event for Prince William County residents is set for November 21. Confidential documents only are accepted. Note acceptable items list and box limt below. Absolutely no business or commercial shredding. Limit four (4 ) boxes, size 18”x12x15” or smaller, or equivalent amount.

Non-confidential documents should be recycled curbside at home, or at a Solid Waste facility convenience center.

Virginia Voters Check Active Status

The Midterm Elections are more important than ever. Early voting in Virginia runs September 18 through October 31. It is easy to verify your polling place and voter status ahead of the deadline for early voting October 31. Election Day in-person is November 3 2026.
